We Are Assholes..

Surej gave me a miscall today at 2 pm, which meant i should get my ass for band practice within 30 minutes. I ate, sat blankly in front of the pc staring at the abstract wallpaper for sometime, got dressed and was out in no time. My house is where the lane ends, beginning at the main road about a 100 metres from my home. As I opened the gate, our postman walked past me, recalled something, walked back, gave this week's issue of 'The Week' to me, smiled and went back.
I started the car, reversed out of home, put the car in neutral, closed the gate, got in and was on my way. As I neared the opening of the lane, I could see someone lying on the side. I hated drunks. Particularly the ones who get stoned and lie down on public places thinking its hilarious, and are a disgrace even to ppl watching. I slowed the car and steered carefully not to run over him. By now the postman had reached the scene. He took care not to walk over him too, considering the width of the lane. The man was clearly stoned, it seemed. But then I saw blood coming in drops from his nose, and bruises on his face too. The postman saw it too. He looked up. Our eyes met. We dint smile this time. He was on his way. After looking for incoming cars on both sides, I pulled the car out of the lane too. He is a postman. I’ll soon be a doctor.
